S1 classes:
We currently have 3 classes in S1 which follows a different model to the rest of the school. To help and support our pupils to settle into Hollybrook our S1 pupils have the same class teacher every morning up until lunch time. They are settled in the same classroom and do their core curricular work. This work includes literacy, numeracy, health and well-being topics as well as completing interdisciplinary projects which also cover a variety of other subject such as social subjects, languages, RE, PSE and technology.
In the afternoon the pupils experience different classes in the school and take part in practical lessons of HE,PE, science and health and well-being.
Once a week the pupils engage in specific music lessons from Beatroute and also work together at various points in the week for activities such as outdoor games, construction activities, gardening and personal and social education. This is beneficial as it allows them to get to know their peer group. Our pupils will often take their learning outside and go on trips within the local community, they will also explore the local parks as well as mixing with pupils from the other year groups for their health and well-being activity choices once a week.
Our S1 teachers this year are:
Beech Class – Mrs Skelton and Mrs Robertson
Oak Class - Ms Lorenzo and Miss Sanderson
Pine Class - Ms Parhar and Mrs Devine
